There once was a time where food was REAL food. Where peaches and apples ripened on the tree, and the cattle was chewing grass on the field all day. It was the time where food would be clean and not filled with chemicals, but close to nature.
Over the years things have changed; the food scene has changed. More and more processed food has become available, food that is not fresh, but industrialized prepared and processed. Different artificial ‘ingredients’ are being added to the food in production. Flavour enhancers, stabilizers, artificial sweeteners and other chemicals making the food look fresher, more colourful, giving it a longer shelf life – the list goes on and on. Processes that remove the food from its natural state and make it suitable for supermarkets rather than farmer's markets.
Artificial additives are however not food. They are edible food-like substances – not real food that our body and biological processes recognise and can use as intended by nature. Eating lots of artificial additives and processed foods far distanced from the original natural state, confuses your body. Your body does not know what to do with artificial and processed food and spend a lot of energy and effort on figuring that out. Processing of food destroys nature’s nutrients that we are intended to use for vital body functions. By eating processed food and artificial additives you give your body suboptimal working conditions and may lead to disease and lethargy. Just to mention a few of the negative effects!
It's time for us to know more and understand what is in the food we eat. Time to know more about what we are feeding our bodies and using as fuel. Understanding and knowledge will make each and every one of us better equipped in making the right food choices.
When you have knowledge, you can make better choices for yourself! Choices that affect how you feel and how much energy you have – choices that make you happy and proud of what you eat and do and make you feel in control of your food.
